Health is important for good quality of life, for dogs as well as humans. Health Tests help to maintain and preferably improve further the health of the Havanese breed.
The breed organisation Bichon Blogonese & Havanaisclub recommend all dogs that is to be used in breeding, have been, tested ok on kneecaps sk patellatest, after the dog had it first birthday. Furthermore, the dogs need to be eye examed every year,without signs of hereditary cataract, and cardiac askul with the same interval.
Now I am of the opinion that not only breeding dogs should heart askul out, eyes examed and Patella investigated. I think this is test that the whole breedpopulation should undergo. In order to determine the health status of the own familymember, but also to give the breeders a posibility to be able to evaluate the results for future breeding. Anything to preserve the breed and give the individuals as good opportunities as possible for a long and healthy life.
Below are presented the results of those of my fur angels who are over the age of the recommended total tests.
